who is nick harris?
Believe it or not Nick Harris, the owner, has been a hydronic heating engineer for quite some time: Nearly 25 years to be precise, and on 2 different continents!
He started his journey back in 1999, in Oxford, UK, where he gained his qualifications at the local TAFE and became self-employed in 2001, starting his new business: "Nick Harris Plumbing & Heating"
Hydronic heating is the default heating system in the UK - It is studied and learnt side-by-side with sanitary, drainage and gas systems etc.
aquaheat was born!
Before internet advertising, most businesses would use the good old "Yellow Pages" to promote their products and services.
In order to be as near to the top page as possible, it was essential to have the business name starting with an "A".
That's when Nick, and his wife, chose the name "AquaHeat" and used "Oxford," being the area he worked in.
This was back in 2003 and the name has stuck with Nick all throughout his career.
Nick also expanded his business in Oxford and employed three plumbers, full time, carrying out many plumbing, gas and hydronic heating installations and repairs in the region.
a new life Down Under!
In late 2011, Nick moved to Melbourne with his wife and kids for a new life Down Under. He came as a Skilled Migrant but was granted only "Registration" by the then P.I.C. (Plumbing Industry Council) and not "Licenced", like in the UK. This is common for a lot of migrants.
He perservered and went to night school / TAFE's to regain all his licencing qualifications and carried on with the "AquaHeat" name, but focussed it purely on his passion: Hydronic heating.
So then, in 2012: "AquaHeat Hydronic" was born!
melbourne, melbourne, melbourne!
Nick was based in Nunawading in the Eastern Suburbs when he arrived in Melbourne in 2011 and worked for a variety of well known hydronic heating companies in the Melbourne Metro area, all whilst gaining his Licencing qualifications at night school.
He learnt "The Ozzy Way" as buildings (and setups) in Australia are different to those in the UK and the practice of installing all types of hydronic systems is very different too.
But the end result is the same: A new heating system!
In 2016 Nick and his family moved to Phillip Island for a change of pace, but found that hydronic heating still hadn't really hit the area and his work still presided in Melbourne.
So, just before Covid hit, in late 2019, he moved with his family to the top of the beautiful Mornington Peninsula: Frankston South. By then, Nick was fully licenced and qualified with the VBA.
here to serve you!
Fast forward to today, post Covid, and Nick has now established himself and cemented his business in the area.
He's changed the comapny logo to reflect the business activities and to create a brand.
So hopefully this story gives you an insight into Nick's career and also the wealth of knowledge, professionalism and experience that he'll bring to you?
Nick is very passionate about hydronic heating and treats every job as if it were done in his own home: "You're only as good as your last job, so make it a good one!", is the motto he swears by.
His priority is to give you the best experience possible: He's all about the outcome for you, the client!
He has a friendly, outgoing character and can advise you on all things hydronic.
So go on, give him a call, he won't bite!
